A recurring JC Pacific series
California, Did You Know?
California, Did You Know? is the recurring editorial series from JC Pacific Corp: short, story-driven pieces built on surprising but true facts about California and Southern California living. Each installment looks at a place, a bit of local history, a hidden neighborhood gem, or a detail of everyday life that helps buyers, sellers, renters, and longtime locals understand the state a little better. New installments appear on this page, so the archive grows right here.

Each new story appears below with the title, a one-line teaser, and the date it landed, so returning readers can pick up right where they left off.

This installment tells the Channel Islands story: the island fox's record-setting recovery, pygmy mammoth fossils, 13,000-year-old human remains, giant sea caves, and how to plan a visit.
